This or the Tevo Tornado?

Edit: It looks like the Tornado is more on par with the CR-10 (non-S)

CR-10s it's better than the Tevo Tornado, and of course the basic CR-10

People say that you can fix the majority of issues in the basic CR-10

So what exactly is the difference? In the FAQ it says something about the S being able to resume print after power outage ... why do I care about that?

If you're 3/4s of the way thru a long print when the power goes out (or the cat pulls the cord, or guest unplugs to plug in phone, etc), then this would presumably pick up where it left off, not waste the filament and time invested in the unfinished piece.
But I've only researched 3d Printers a little, don't own any.

I get that, but it seems like a UPS would be a smart investment in any tech-heavy equipment, 3D printer included.

Yes, that's true. But 3D prints are still not lightning fast usually. You could easily run down the battery of a fair-sized UPS before finishing the print.

Don't buy from GearBest!!

I ordered CR-10s from them 2 weeks ago and just got email I've been put on back-order. I even paid extra for shipping too, and they still screw me.

They are lying and baiting you in to buy on stock they don't have.

Don't be fool like me

Good luck to you all, you been warned

From what I've been reading about the differences between the CR-10 and the CR-10S is that the "S" has two z axis motors for better stabilization, a filament sensor and the glass plate has rounded corners. All of these can be individually upgraded from the regular CR-10. I'm sure there's more differences but I'm very new to 3D printing and still doing my research to see if it's a hobby I'd like to get in to.

I would be weary of shipping estimation from gearbest. In addition, the biggest advantage that the tevo tornado have over the cr-10 or cr-10s is the AC heated bed. The tevo takes about 5 minutes to heat to 100C, the cr10-x takes 30 minutes to reach that 100C With modifications.

But, of course, buying shipping insurance won't make it get there any faster.

If you are concerned about the package just make sure to buy through PayPal. From everything I read it is the sellers responsibility to make sure the item arrives to you in working condition and complete… Otherwise just dispute the purchase with PayPal. The shipping insurance is either a waste or more for people who buy via credit card. IMHO.
