Micro Center has the Intel Core i7-8700K Coffee Lake 3.7 GHz LGA 1151 Boxed Processor for $379.99 + taxes as applicable to your local state.

The only downside is you have to physically go to the store though... I figure this may help out some considering it doesn't seem to be well advertised.

They also offer $30 discount if you buy a mobo together with the CPU.

Limit one per person every 3 days. Honestly I don't know how they keep track of that...

Get it while supply lasts. Stocks seems pretty low where I am, they had 5 this morning and I just checked it's OOS now.

I almost bit on Black Friday. Too bad the checkout line was 45-60 minute wait.

Intel is playing hunger marketing. Not interested in that game.

Bah, I didn't want to wait so I got a delidded 8600k from silicon lottery. Binned for 5.2ghz overclock, 336 after shipping. I reckon it would perform quite well in gaming, especially in those that are not well optimized for hyperthreading, and also save me a pretty penny from having to watercool. Liquid metal + scythe mugen 5 + plenty of airflow in the case should handle 5.2ghz.

I am going to wait for three big reasons. First, Z370 MBs are already EOL. They will be replaced by the Z390 MBs which can use 8700 CPUs and the new 9700 CPUs (mainstream 8 core CPUs). Z390 will be out be Mar of 18. Second, Intel is brining another factory on-line 14 Dec with volume shipments by 30 Dec. Retail pricing of the 8700 CPUs will return to list price on or before the 15th of Jan. Third, Intel's new mainstream 8 core CPUs will be out by 1st Half of 18 and so will AMD's Ryzan + and Threadripper + chips with their new 470 (high performance, OCing) chipset.

Buying now is just a waist!

And then in March that'll be a waste because the new chipset will be out and new CPUs on the horizon! That's a never ending cycle. Buy when you need more power and get the best deal you can at that time.
