Dell Home & Office Discounts, Deals and Coupon Codes

Suddenly I can't print from most web browsers, please help if you can.

38 14 November 25, 2017 at 03:06 PM Get Dell Home & Office Coupons
When I print from MS Edge I get:

Quote :
We couldn't reach this printer. Make sure the printer is on and you are connected to the printer's network, or try a different printer.
Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer simply close immediately without reporting any error codes.

I can type the printers IP address into any of these browsers and view its web management page.

Opera browser seems to work normally.Confused

I have found several websites referencing this error but the suggestions I find do not do any good. I can print normally from my office suite, notepad and MS Paint. This problem started on last Wednesday. I have not installed any new hardware or software. MalwareBytes finds nothing nor does ms security essentials.

I'm stuck and need some help. Thanks in advance.

so are you saying it does not work for Word or WordPad only browsers? Can you do a test print via windows? Based on what you're saying it's a network printer that's wireless? do you know the model number?

The printer is a Dell 5100CN using network LAN not wireless. Doing a test print worked normally.

Clearing browser cache didn't help and anyway I have this problem on all browsers except Opera. I can print any and all other content from notepad, wordpad, MS Word 2010 MS Excel 2010, paint etc. I don't use many extensions but after disabling them on MS Edge there were no changes, the problem remains.

Windows 10? Have you tried reinstalling the drivers?

I don't understand why reinstalling drivers would do any good. The printer works perfectly in every aspect except for the browsers edge, chrome and firefox. Opera works as you would expect it to work.

I agree it doesn't make sense but you have tried the logical things and this wouldn't be the first time that reinstalling the drivers fixed an odd issue. It's usually pretty easy and painless to try. YLMV

Do you have AVG antivirus installed?

Try uninstalling: Security Update for Microsoft Windows KB4041691 (start, run: appwiz.cpl - View Installed updates - & if KB4041691 is listed, uninstall). If not listed - see this LINK [microsoft.com] for some solutions

"Resolution steps:
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\x64\3
  • Ensure that the file PrintConfig.dll is present
  • If not, copy the file from C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\x64\3.old
  • If you don't have a 3.old, grab the file from another windows 10 machine.

Sorry for the delay getting back to this I have been incredibly busy or maybe lazy, anyway uninstalling & reinstalling the printer didn't help, I couldn't find a 3.old file on the other wind 10 PC.

This is what I finally did. I started up an old windows 7 laptop and shared the printer over the network. Now that laptop is going to be turned on 24/7. Printing to this shared resource works perfectly but it seems kludgy to me.

Thanks for the attempts & reps given to everyone.

delete the printer / right click and choose remove device. Then add it back.

if that doesn't work, you could try this: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.c...-printing/
though it may not work on windows 10

Why do conservative politicians oppose conservation?
Have you ever stopped to think the long-term GOP immigration policy might be to make the United States of America a less desirable place to live than Mexico?
