I thought that the X700E was their lowest model Smart TV. Because of such a low quality set, this 70 incher should'be more like $800 without the gift card.

I wanted to buy this but hmm. Anyways off topic, Sony seems to have some problems with their panels.
I found a good deal on a used KDL 850B 70 Inch, but the reviews are no so great when it comes to the longevity.
Anyone hase that Tv and had issues with it?
Thanks

Is this really bad? What's wrong with 690 or what is it missing that's really important?
Thanks.

I don't really know. I guess there are too many tech geeks here. My tv now has 5.9 in ratings on rting and I'm still alive watching it. It's probably a great Tv. Just the price seems a couple $ too high. I would buy it for 1K.

Idiots posting . It's an entry level panel and basic streaming apps (limited to Netflix, Hulu, uTube but in essence, these are what are used by 90% of consumers anyway). And 60Hz native panel.

However, RTings gave it a decent rating and gave it higher marks than the popular budget Vizio E70 but lower than the M series (mid end Vizio). But Sony's tend to have better scaler for non 4k than Vizio.

My local BB has this on demo and it's more than a decent set. They have a 1080p feed on it but it looks very good upscaled. I think for $1199, it's a solid budget friendly considering the size. For 70" 4k sets under $1500, there's not a lot of options currently.

And yes, there's a perceived difference in size between a 65", 70" and 75" TV.

I'm just bummed out that I didn't see the thread on the $999 deal at Frys last Fri on this same set (instore deal and Frys is 20 miles from my house).

Thanks, for 70" people probably expect $1000, and I am also surprised nobody posted this if it was $999 at Frys. I guess because it was in store only, and fry's don't like to ship cross country? I just hope Micro Center starts matching Frys deals on east coast (I wonder if they are same owner/partners, etc).

Yes, now it is. The 10% offer expired yesterday.
