Mirrored or mirrorless doesn't have a huge impact on quality. You can make an amazing or crappy camera either way, at the end of the day what's going to make a big difference is lens and sensor quality, not whether or not there is a mirror.

That said mirrorless cameras do generally do a better job of live previews and displaying helpful information on the viewfinder while you're composing shots, and can have an autofocus advantage. They also tend towards being smaller and lighter, and can be adapted to work with other lens systems easier.

Bottom line, and hopefully this doesn't sound condescending, is I'd recommend spending more time and effort learning about photography and cameras before spending a lot of money on a camera. The lessons learned will pay far better dividends in better photographs than any camera will every give you, and when you do make a choice you'll be better prepared to choose a camera system that's right for you.

Standered price for the a7ii, but you're getting an extra battery(they're about $55) and 4 track recorder (that you'll probably just sell)

DR-40 you can sell and make back around $140

Yep. Standard pricing for A7ii. I've been eyeing this camera for a while and waiting for the a7iii to release for a possible price drop on the A7ii.

if sony had the guts to make their cameras take canon lenses natively they'd bankrupt canon. Oh and revamp sony's insane menu system and also the most uncomfortable ergonomics of any camera too....

and if canon had the guts to put sony sensors in their bodies and add 4k...then sony would not be in the camera business long.

Consider between Sony a7 and a7 ii, does it have major difference except IBIS?

Yes. The focus systems are completely different. A7ii is far superior and works great when adapted to Canon lenses. I switched from a Canon 5dmiii and don't regret it. The electronic viewfinder is a game changer

I owned both A7 and now A7ii. I liked both. The A7 is actually like and slimmer than the mark ii. Yes, you get better focus system and 5 axis stabilization and larger grip, but I wish they were the same size and weight.
