I have this vac; this is a super low price for this type of vac. Black & Decker isn't know for robotic vacs like iRobot and others, but they did a really nice job on this vac. I have a friend who has the $600 Roomba, and this Black & Decker vac is more powerful and has a larger dust container. We have a 20 month old toddler and run this vac everyday. Saves lots of time from us having to vacuum up his leftover cereal and dirt from the yard. We have tile, carpet and wood; it moves from surface to surface pretty well. It does get stuck on our small area rugs in the kitchen, so we pick those up first. It also sucked up one of our cell phone cords once, and just flashed and stopped working. The cord and vac were fine, after pulled the cord out.

What are YOU comparing? Roomba 960 is on sale at Amazon right now for $739 (from $799). This B&D vacuum is $115. We're talking about a difference of $624 bucks! What's the matter with you, man?
I'll tell you what, if this device lasts a year, I'll buy five more (one each year) at this price and still have $49 bucks left to purchase a gift card and then send it to you so you can buy some common sense.
We're talking about $739 vs $115 dollars. Even at your $500 dollar price (which, just so we're clear, doesn't currently exist), we're still talking about two entirely different machines.
So, did you post your "insightful" and "helpful" response in an attempt to stand up for your apparently "precious" Costco and Roomba, or did you respond just to try and be a little "know it all?"
Perhaps you've lost sight of why this forum exists? It was my understanding that the SD forum was a place to discuss existing deals/bargains and help one another by providing valuable insight. Apparently, you joined to ridicule people and be an @$$.
Thanks for the "informative" insight. smh...

I use mine in a 2 bedroom apartment; I have it docked in the living room; it goes into the kitchen, dining room, two bedrooms and two bathrooms on one charge. It then makes its way back to the docking station; it doesn't have the mapping software. It just uses some type of random algorithmic approach to cover each area. It goes over each section repeatedly in a seemingly random way. At first, I thought it was odd, but it does make it thorough, even if inefficient from a traditional vacuuming perspective.

If there are many rooms in the house, will it be able to find its way? Or should it be placed room by room? Roomba 960 has the mapping that prevents overlap but costs $$$

Not sure how this compares to the Samsung R7010 I got from a previous deal, I was very happy with that.

This has Bluetooth connectivity (I know Samsung r7010 has no connection whatsoever). This has a larger dust bin.

PCmag review says it has trouble getting over some surfaces.

Random algorithm? Samsung has the smart mapping software.

Considering one for a gift, if anyone has input it would be appreciated!

I think for the price it's a great deal and I'm gonna try it out! I've been wanting to get a robot vacuum and I'm okay with it getting stuck some and needing help. Honestly for the price lots of features here IMO. You can't expect it to compete with $300 vacuums when it's $115

Ordered one as a gift for a friend. Price was right, even the chinese knockoffs on Amazon cost more than this. I figure if he runs into issues he will get better support from black n decker than most of those Amazon companies
