Amazon [amazon.com] has Alcatel Idol 5S - 32 GB - Unlocked (AT&T/Sprint/T-Mobile/Verizon) - Crystal Grey for $200 after applying coupon code 80OFFIDOL5S with free shipping.

Based on the reviews, you get a lot of features for the price but battery life is poor.

Thanks for the share. But poor battery life is a deal breaker.

15 years ago, my phone could last for over a week on battery. Why can't they just default to low power mode for most functions and make them last two days consistently?

Isn't that what Android's Doze feature is? If they default to low power mode, the phone will be slower.

Not a fan of Alcatel phones; if anything goes wrong during rooting, the phone becomes bricked; and unlike the phones they sell in other countries, the phones sold by carriers in the U.S. don't have ROM loaders.

im sure you can find a functional version of your phone from 15 years ago if you'd like to relive the good old days

Slower won't hurt for anything except games and media processing.

But you're right that it's mostly OEMs ruining features like Doze in base Android. I haven't had a phone where a proper Doze functionality actually makes it to the user.

So you like your phone dying fast?

All I'm saying is that I can get like 4+ days battery life if I set my S7 to super low power mode. It would be nice if it always did that while sleeping and could only receive calls--or at least if that was an option. Then switch back to normal mode when I wake it. Now I only get about 1.5 days standby time. That seems unjustifiable from a design standpoint.

I am not sure if this one from Cricket will be unlockable. It is only $120 after the code.

I actually bought a Nokia 3310 3g version which lasts me like 3-4 days on each charge. For smartphone a Moto e4 plus with 5000mah battery is a good choice for $99 on Amazon.
