My family is in need of a new laptop and I think I've narrowed it down to 2 contenders:
Acer Laptop Aspire E5-575G-728Q
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Pr...6834315712

Lenovo Laptop IdeaPad 320 80XL03BQUS
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Pr...6834860846

Both have similar specs, same i7 processor
Acer having both a 256GB SSD and a 1TB HDD, only 8GB RAM
Lenovo has 12GB, 256GB SSD only

My thoughts for the purchase:
-Touchscreen doesn't matter
-Thinking i7 would kinda future-proof it making it faster than what I "need"
-SSD appealing for obvious reasons, ext HD already owned could take care of additional storage needs
-$650 is pretty much the most I'd like to spend
-used for general web browsing, word processing, email

I know I could go cheaper and it would do what I want, but I'd rather spend a little more and never "wish I'd bought something better"

Thoughts between these two or something comparable?

Thanks in advance,
Luke

Honestly, if you are willing to pay 650, then for about 80 dollars more you can get a much better machine from a processor and graphics board perspective...something like:

$729 AR:

Maybe do better on the Dell Outlet for an Inspiron 7559 similarly equipped.

Between the 2 you listed, I go with the Acer with the extra 1TB hard drive over 4 extra gigs of memory.
