I'd spend the extra dough and get the Schlage that is home depot's deal of the day for 175. They're head and shoulders better than the kwikset stuff.

Meh. I've had both. Really don't see much difference myself. Both have worked well for years. Little stuff either way to the advantage of one or the other. Not sure that I'd pay $175 for any of them. All of mine came cheap when HD cleared them out but that's no longer around so....

Amazon has the Schlage Connect in Satin Nickel or Bronze for $179:

Also the Smart Sense for $160:

I have the Yale Real Living Smart Lock which is similar to this and only runs for about $80 on sale. How are Kwikset and Schlage able to charge much more for the almost the same product?

I have this and you need Alexa and a "smarthub" to operate via web...it does not have a stand alone app!...otherwise I love it!

Glad you said this that's a dealbreaker for me. Alexa is my hub.

This is why I got the sense. Works with HomeKit, even with a smart hub all the connect can do is give lock status and lock itself. No unlock. So basically no Alexa benefits. The sense with an appletv and HomeKit can do a lot more.

The HD deal includes a handle though, so if you need that and have a wink/smartthings hub it may be a better deal.

Says it does. I've not tried it myself.

Edit to add:

One thing that people should know with all of these remotely activated locks is that alignment becomes more critical since you're not there to slightly push/pull on the door as it may need to be done when locking/unlocking the deadbolt. You don't need to be at .001 tolerance levels but if you have a door that's a little off or swells with weather, etc., then you may need to play with it some to make it work well.

I have Schlage smart connect Nickle, I think it's the same as Smart sense just different color.
I also own both Kwikset 916 and 910. All 3 locks connect and controlled by SmartThings, OpenHAB, Alexa smoothly. Don't see any difference in terms of Smart control.

Kwikset 916 looks best due to touchscreen, but suffer shorter battery life. I've to change rechargeable battery every 2-3 months;
910 is a great solid lock, battery seems last forever. Last set of rechargeables lasted a whole year or more.
Schlage smart sense is stable and better battery life than 916.

If you don't mind looking that much, I think 910 is a great lock.

So many options right now. Tempted to wait a year to see what happens in this market.
