It was from the seller via Amazon's email system.

I never get emailed these codes for items. How do people get on the email lists? The more of us on them the better for all of us on here.

The "email lists" that he/she's possibly referring to are private email lists consisting of people sellers can rely on to give them "believable" 5 star reviews, and who are willing to go along with the schemes necessary to get the verified purchase tags. Those codes don't make it here unless the seller is desperate for seller ranking because not even incentive reviewers want their stuff since they have so much of it already.

Codes posted here typically come from the seller either directly or indirectly via a surrogate. Legitimate email lists, I use the term spam but they are useful for some, do exist. The coupons usually bring the price of whatever product is down to +/- $1 of the eBay price for the exact same product shipped directly from the asian factory that makes it except you get prime shipping from the amazon "deal" code.

Similar to this camera, which can be purchased on eBay (with a different label) for this price any day of the week and year. I've purchased the same camera from Amazon (ships and sold by) for $15 down to about $9 dollars, but that's much less common than the $15-22 range.

Main issue is that these don't come with firmware updates from SJCAM unless they are licensed. You know if they are licensed by the stamp on the front, regardless of who the private label "brand" is, if it doesn't say SJCAM on the front, it's not coming with firmware updates. Many of the updates are necessary to allow all the modes to work on the camera, or to enable things like wifi transfer, resolution settings, etc. Bigger deal at $25, not so much at $9.

Really? I get a lot of random emails from sellers. Some of them for BF actually offered 5% off or 10% off coupon code store wide, though I think it's account specific. Then I get these email from sellers giving directly the code + item. All of that though, is from seller sending you emails after you've placed orders from that store. Another way of joining those lists, is to not ignore those insert slips in the products and actually sign up for their mailing lists or registering the product. Actually I found out that they share email addresses too, because I will get offers from brands I've never bought from before.

The "email lists" that he/she's possibly referring to are private email lists of trusted reviewers who are given codes or "arrangments" to purchase the product free. Legitimate emails from sellers might exist but they're often to nearly always posted by the seller through various underhanded mechanisms. Usually brings the price down within a dollar of the eBay price for the same thing shipped directly from the factory in asia.

Thank you, that was very useful information... especially about the firmware updates.

Thank you. I will start replying to those. I am one of those that ignore them until now.

maybe I could save $10 on ebay, but w/ Prime shipping this is convenient enough to test the waters before getting a better 4k import. Thanks!
