AMD Ryzen is legit. Whether you need Threadripper vs R7/R5 is up to you.

Is it worth the price point for performance? Does this chew thru video editing like no other? Is Nvidia dropping some new comeptition to it soon? Ive got a i7 950 and from what i see its still fighting for its spot in high end. I need to replace a mobo so i can have 16-32 gb memory though. Any small. Cpu upgrade will be pointless to me

For single core Intel is still king, although the margin is small. For multicore performance AMD is better especially for the price.

Stay away. Ryzen is too good for you.

A few times in history AMD beat Intel in multi core performance, and many many times AMD beat Intel in price per performance.

like the like the 8 core AMD FX 8350 I built 4.5 years ago. We didn't need 8 cores back then, but this plays ANY GAME well with an updated video card.

You have to watch the Power dissipation with AMD. You have to get a motherboard with Regulators that are very stiff.

AMD rubbish =D. And you're asking if it's rubbish... which means you don't even know

Just stop. You're embarrassing yourself.

And this is coming from someone who prefers intel to AMD.

Ok, come here. =D. Whip it out, lad.

I'll raise you 38 years (if I include programming in 7th grade on a Tandy 1000 when the storage media was a cassette).

Also raiise you 15 years Analog Designer, Firmware Engineer, holder of 8 patents. Search on Linked In or USPTO (us patent trade office)

I don't even need another computer, but am building again because AMD nailed this, and I like driving games, and Forza 7 might suoport triple 2560 x 1440.

Another reason is to support AMD, because without competition, Intel would be charging a lot more.

I just picked up 3 Samsung 4k 1ms gtg monitors. =P
