Blu-ray... I also checked this after I saw that LOTR was on sale. I don't think 38.49 is that big of a deal though.. Anyone any thoughts on this?

A few BF's ago I think I paid $8 for these. This is definitely not a good price.

It was either $8, or $10. Either way it was way cheaper than this.

True, but I've read issues before with their disks.. not every one of them would play in US (region 1) players... which is a reason for me to stay away from the UK (region free) version..

I have bought a ton of region free discs from the U.K. And have and zero issues... did you read about an issue specifically with this trilogy?

I've never had an issue with UK/Region disks either. Very tempted to order that set.

I've been checking the recent reviews on the US box that is on sale & it sounds like it may or may not have digital copies included & the packaging is no longer in a box to match the LOTR set.

The U.K. Version does have digital copies (but you have to use a VPN plugin to do so, but is very easy to do so) but once done they show up in your library.

No because they are pretty much identical to the US discs other than some extra language tracks and since teh US 3D Ext Trilogy was an Amazon Exclusive and now appears OOP it's scalper bait.
Unless you get a damaged set of discs there is nothing incompatible with that set. I'm assuming the other poster bought some region free disc with 50Hz material on it by accident and had a Sony which
couldnt play it, but the Hobbit set like most Warner does not have that issue and has been confirmed by hundreds of SD buyers over the past few years
