Haha it's ok. No, you don't need this controller. It's more of a "nice to have" if he likes playing with a real controller. Otherwise, the system itself is a handheld and has removeable controllers attached to it. He can play without the pro controller, but if you plan to dock it to the tv, you might prefer it.

Great. This would go on sale after I bought two Magic - NS devices for my Dualshock 4s. Thanks for posting.

Thanks. Another Christmas gift off the list for my son. Debating whether to also get the Joy-cons that are also on sale.

I'm pretty sure it will fail?

I picked up the stupid Mario Odyssey game. I'm assuming it is easier to play with this vs. the joycons?

Here are the exclusion list
Excludes all gift cards, Target Optical, and Portrait Studio, CVS pharmacy, clinic, Duluth Pack (online only), Pulsar (online only), Weber, Traeger, prepaid cards (airtime, entertainment, iTunes, and online gaming), Elf on the Shelf, LEGO, select board games (Cards Against Humanity, Joking Hazard game, Exploding Kittens, Bears vs Babies, What do you Meme), WellieWishers, DSLR cameras and lenses, LG OLED TVs, Google products, Bose, Sonos, JBL, TOMS Apple Watch Bands, GoPro, Nintendo hardware, Switch software, Fitbit, Samsung and LG TVs, Xbox One X, Target Mobile purchases, alcohol, dairy milk, power dental, power shave, Tylenol, Apple.

ps. Seems like Odyssey is best played with the joycons. https://www.polygon.com/2017/10/2...n-controls

Actually more enjoyable with a joy con in each hand.

Nope I just bought one from them $56 + tax (got redcard). Stayed up all last night waiting for the Switch to go on sell then they post the exclusions pissed me off because I remember seeing a article where they said all gaming consoles would be on sale and a spokesperson said the switch would be on sell but extremely limted. Oh well got the Office Depot/Gamestop deal.

Tried to do it over the phone. They said they aren't PMing during Cyber Week.

Looks like Target is giving 15% off the pro controller, but not the joy-cons
