Guys, could anyone share impressions about Porter-Cable tools?
I am looking for a starter, affordable drill/driver.

This should do the job just fine for you as a household user.
I bought a 20V drill driver from Porter Cable during black Friday of 2013 for $100 at Lowe's and it is still going very strong now. The battery lasts months without recharging, and quite a long time when put under heavy use.
My dad is a general contractor who use Milwaukee tools and he has been quite impressed whenever using it at my home. The only time I ever noticed a performance issue was when comparing it to his Milwaukee when we were screwing 100+ screws into cement board. Mine got hot faster than his did, but this was a one time job when we were putting tile in my house.
For $54, it's hard to go wrong with this.

For occasional home use, the brand makes fine products, but this is an impact driver and not a drill/driver.

Pretty decent. But also look at some of the lowes deals, especially with coupons on their combo sets with a drill and driver and 2 batteries and a charger. Both brushless and brushed models on sale now at great prices

I got the drill to drill and tap an engine block. Drove it hard almost non stop through about 2 full batteries and its still working great after everything else i've put it through. I believe they are owned by Stanley Black & Decker

I own this along with the drill and flashlight. The impact has been nothing short of fantastic. I accidentally spilled a bunch of antifreeze on it. I rinsed it off and let it dry and it's still running perfect. Good and powerful, feels great in the hand, battery lasts forever—I probably charge it once a month.

The drill I'm not as big of a fan of. The chuck can get locked too tight such that I need channel locks to break it free.

The flashlight is a flashlight, albeit extremely bright. It's a little too focused (spotlight) for my taste, would love a way to adjust it so it floods better.

Great tools overall.

I picked this up in a drill/impact driver bundle from Lowes 2 weeks ago for $129. It's my first power tool set, and I absolutely love it. The impact driver is super powerful. It does make a slight burning rubber smell when you use it, but I'm assuming that's characteristic of all power tools.

Bought the drill/driver impact combo refurbished a few years back for my dad. He's pretty rough with his tools, both are good as day one. Once or twice he had to use channel locks to get a bit out of the drill Chuck

Battery charges really quick and stops when full (don't have to worry about overcharging)
