Well the 8 Camera is the cheapest it has been since early this month but the 4 camera package hasn't been this cheap since before July. So it's not that bad of a deal.

Thanks. I guess I'm a little biased because I got the 8 camera without a hard drive for $136 on a lightning deal about 2 months ago. Was looking to pickup another one either with or without hdd. Maybe you're right. Now thinking back I believe normal price on the 8 cam is $229. On sale maybe $199.

For anyone buying this please be aware that there is no rtsp options. Zmodo took that away with firmware upgrades. Now the streams are encrypted and I have not figured out any way to remote view my cameras other than the phone app or their own PC application. Plus of course on a TV/monitor hooked up directly. I miss the old days of just port forwarding the DVR/nvr and remotely logging into the system. No need for signing up and sending your data to a company. I mean they really need to give us that option back.

HI Sam,

Oh, that sucks ... the more I look the more it seems that companies are looking for options for a revenue stream from some sort of cloud service. I'm guessing that is the route zmodo will be going - locking down their cheap systems more and more and finding ways get get a few more bucks a month from customers with some additional value add.

it may not be a bad thing if this encourages zmodo to hire decent software engineering to do a decent service.... we'll see what happens this next year I guess.
