Cheapest price I have seen so far. This is good if you have a cable connection. I going to replace my Tivo with this unit as it has DVR functionality.

Yup this is a good deal, haven't seen it at this price for a long time now. Really is a shame Microsoft killed Windows Media Center. Anyway Repped OP.

Plex (with a Plex Pass) is turning out to be an excellent option.

Tell me more. Anybody on here use Plex TV with a hdhomerun prime? I am investigating the options as my main Win7 WMC rig is slowly dying, and WMC itself has been an unsupported mess for awhile. I fancy the idea of a clean new machine running Plex and a reliable one-stop shop for my Live and Recorded TV as well as movie collection.

I'm trying to figure out whether the DVR solution works with Kodi or will i get screwed with DRM.

DRM depends on your cable provider. About the only positive of Xfinity/Comcast is they still only encrypt premiums like HBO/Showtime/Starz, etc. Any other channel works fine with the Prime in Kodi and/or presumably Plex TV. But that is all set by your provider, not the viewing and recording solution.

I tried it but thought they killed it off with newer versions of Win 10. Also don't think they ever got DRM working? But please correct me if I'm wrong. See that's the big issue with most, Kodi, Plex, Emby & the like, no DRM support...

I've had my HomeRunPrime for about a year and it mostly works well with Charter's cablecard. Have to reboot it about once a week but i works good with Windows Media Center.

Shouldnt the Prime with Cable card pretty much take care of any encrypted channel?
Over here, comcast encrypted all non basic channels. I couldnt use a tuner to watch non digital channels anymore.
I still got WMC running on Win7, but also looking at what can replace this, but havent found anything as good as WMC.

Can't wait until they add a grid channel guide for live TV. Once that hits, game over.

Channel surfing sucks with hdhomerun prime. Tivo is way better

It's pretty decent, especially if you have an Nvidia ShieldTV to go with it. No issues so far. Marketing site: https://www.plex.tv/features/live-tv-dvr/
