No idea but this is a good deal. It's like the old 2 year contracts with subsidized phone prices. Are people switching carriers/phones every year or something?

Well now that Verizon is shifting all grandfathered plans to their single unlimited plan I imagine people will be leaving. Last thing I wanna do is tie myself to Verizon for another 2 years.

Maybe, but many are or were never verzion customers, they just want a good price on a phone they can port to another carrier or turn over for a few bucks.

I have been a verizon customer for years, and I am really annoyed with being committed to a certain phone no matter what, in exchange for a sale price. I get why they had to do it, but it sucks for the ones who legit used the phone on their service. At least there is still some opportunity to get discounts, you just have to be way more choosy.

Dragging my heels on the best buy xl $5 a month deal (plus activation and taxes on the full price) It's a good price but not enough to kick me from my current phone and taking away my freedom get any phone in the next 2 years or move carriers if I do end up finally booting verizon.

I could hate on Verizon all day BUT I, like many in my state of Oregon, live where Verizon is the ONLY option. ATT - no coverage. Sprint - no coverage. Tmob - nothing. Verizon 5 bars.. and all the way out my rural highway 58 it is the same way...

Bought from Verizon store . Android version is 7.1.1 right out of the box. Not good for rooting/roming. Bootloader is unlocked / encrypted and Verizon will not unlock . Verizon secured the bootloader in 7.1 .

Yup. Just jumped all over this to replace my wife's 4 year old phone. It was perfect. She doesn't change phones very often (obviously), and $5 a month added to my bill every month is practically nothing. I just picked it up, and she's thrilled.
