Also poor HDR with color gamut being too narrow. No local dimming and poor viewing angle (for a 75in you'd almost always be at an angle even if seated dead center....

I'm really put off by the negatives even though the price per inch is good.

I'd only buy this is you want this TV just for it's size and not so much picture quality. Unfortunately for panels >70 inches, you'll be paying exponentially more per inch

Yes.

Judder... think shaking. Think really bad design for image data throughput or massive corner cutting to get the price down.

I have this model. It is pretty good with regular content but color in HDR blurays is funky. No concerns with viewing angle. If springing for 75 get a better model like MU8000 or X850 for a couple hundo more.

Do you guys just check the box and sign or actually make the delivery guys wait while you open the box to make sure there's no major issues with the set? like cracked screen, etc.?

A friend of mine bought this TV from Fry's when it was on sale earlier this year and had it delivered. They unpacked it, placed it on the stand, turned it on, and discarded the box for him. We watched Game of Thrones on it and I thought it was good for the price.

There are obviously higher/better models but nothing to bash this tv for. It's like buying gas, you typically have three gasoline grade choices (assuming your does not require premium only). Or buying a diamond ring, you can sacrifice other areas (color, cut, or clarity) for size (carat). If you're on a budget and prefer a larger size, I think you'll be satisfied. Just make sure your chair/sofa is the optimal viewing distance away from this size tv. But like anything else, to each their own.

I would pay the extra $300 versus the Sony. Contrast ratio on this is near 6000 which is extremely high, even to high-end tv's, even more so when compared to the POS IPS panel in the 75" version of the 850E. I actually went to Frys yesterday to look at projectors and saw the 75" IPS version of that Sony and it was terrible even under the bright lights. Reminded me of the crap IPS panels with local dimming LG puts in their line up. If you value movie watching, black levels, uniformity, especially at night with black bars, don't ever get an IPS. IPS needs to stay in it's lane, computer monitors.

The honey coupon app has this listed as a best deal from yesterday. They listed the price at $427. Anyone aware of someone who actually bought it at that price?
