This former Cyber Monday deal is currently available again for the same price.

The base CPU is an i5-8400 for $799.99 but you can upgrade to an i7-8700 for +$70 or an i7-8700K for +$170 (requires +$80 liquid cooling).

8.5% cashback available from Be Frugal.

I bought it on Cyber Monday and it's a nice computer. I bought a Samsung 960 EVO NVMe SSD separately. Easiest way to move Windows over to boot from it is to create the HP Recovery Media on a USB drive and use that to install the factory image to the SSD.

I post the base deal with i5. Wish we have a coupon or rebate to add to those cashback sites.

seems like by the time I add 16gb of RAM and the i7 8700 I'm at $1000 without an SSD Frown not sure if that's a good deal or not after seeing that Cybertron PC on Thursday for similar specs at $700. sad I missed out. opinions for those of us who didn't catch that deal? is this worth it?

Thanks OP, just ordered this.

8700
8gb
1070
1tb HDD

not sure how the cash back works, is it on my out the door price or just base?
$1259.24 + 13% cb should bring me back to $1093 which is very close to the dell alienware doorbuster (w/o cb)
if my calculations are correct.

Corrections: 13% cash back off base $1150. Takes a couple months to receive the CB as well, interesting process.

For first time ever, I decide to build a pc, but these various deals are so good, you really don't save building your own. This would have had all I want except memory.

I bought a Samsung 960 EVO NVMe SSD 250GB separately for $120. Easiest way to move Windows over to boot from it is to create the HP Recovery Media on a USB drive and use that to install the factory image to the SSD.

Sure. I have received mine now and one feature you may find useful is that it has 2 x 3.5" external drive bays that you can just plug in hard drives in a caddy.
