Been rocking this for 2+ years now. Rock solid with Merlin builds. And I have connectivity at a few of my neighbors houses.

worth noting that it's an open box item and only comes with a 30 day warranty.

Awesome!

I'm hooking mine up tomorrow, which is the Best Buy exclusive of this model. Faster CPU, but essentially the same.

Got this for a similar price last year. Finally got around to turning in my XFinity bundled modem / router, and bought the NETGEAR CM500 (also on sale today, I think).

It took me half the afternoon to do the Merlin flash (I think there are better instructions now), and the duo has been working flawlessly.

This router with the flashed Asus / Merline firmware is awesome for both poweruser and those who just want to set it up and forget about it.

I don't know about range for those with a big house, but the 5 GHZ works perfectly in a crowded apartment with probably 200 other SSIDs in range.

I haven't tried this ASUS but I have the Nighthawk R6700 and I hate it. I have to reboot it at least twice a day because it drops the connection

Been trying to figure out a decent enough router to upgrade to with my setup. I'll probably have three to four users streaming at the same time, max. I assume this modem would do the job well enough?

After half a year of use the 2.4GHz frequency became spotty then died out, only the 5GHz works now. I switched to Ubiquiti Unifi AC-Pro.

If you are a Tmobile subscriber and stop in at one of their corporate stores they'll give you one if these (this exact model last I looked) for free or they may charge a refundable $35.00 user fee. Just tell them you have a lot of competing devices in your home and the WiFi range you have now doesn't seem very far.

How does this compare to Netgear's Nighthawk at Walmart? [walmart.com]
