Bought this exact interface from these guys a few weeks ago. Fast shipping and product brand new as promised. Love the interface, plug and play with logic.

A USB mic already has its own DAC and doesn't need an audio interface. This will interface with XLR / phantom power devices. Think microphones, instruments like guitars, etc.

The reason I purchased one was for the balanced outputs. This should allow me to hook up 2 JBL LSR305's to my PC as speakers and avoid buzzing and line noise from the power cables I have with my computer setup.

Significantly? That depends on your application.

For me the deal breaker was the unbalanced outputs. I needed balanced outputs. But that's might not be something that you need.

The sound of the UMC202HD is VERY good for the price point but doesn't sound nearly as natural as the Scarlett 2i2 in my opinion. If you listen to the comparison below, you'll notice the UMC has has brighter sound and lacks fidelity in the middle tones, and slightly exaggerated the low-end in a bit boomier of a way.

This might lead some people without recording experience to perceive it as sounding "better" since it almost sounds like there's compression on it, but that's not what you want from your interface. That's what you'll do in-the-box while mixing and mastering. You want the interface to color the audio as little as possible so you start neutral before making changes that you choose to make in your DAW.

If you're a podcaster and don't care about balanced outputs then this is a really great deal and you should skip the Scarlett and save $60. If you're going to be recording various instruments or you need balanced outputs then pay the extra $60 and get the Scarlett.
