Microwave does consume energy by displaying clock and with its idle power. If you don't use it much its LED clock may consume more energy than heating the food per year.

I am very cheap guy and am all up for saving but the effect is very low ($1 saving per year according to this article https://www.thesimpledollar.com/s...icrowave/) so I am not going to bother with turn off microwave :p

Since this is a single switch, I see this more convenience factor (use on Christmas tree/light, coffee machine) than actual energy saving. Like Christmas tree that doesn't have switch, you can turn it off instead of plugging out power cord.

For actual energy saving, it might be better to buy Eco Power Strip and use on multimedia system TV / Home theater speakers / game machine altogether. Something like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003A81...1QJXQ?th=1

FYI, good detailed article from Natural Resource Defense Council.

Best price I've seen for these. So many devices don't have a power switch anymore (Roku I'm looking at you) Snapped up 3!

Yes absolutely. As much as I love this switch, the light will go out after a year of frequent use. That is the only drawback but will be annoying to some. I have been using 5 of these for about 2~4 years, all of them are still going strong.
