Great machine...
NOT a touch display

When you're talking about Dell XPS, you're talking more about a premium build quality, infinity edge IPS display (small bezels) in addition to compact / ultra thin and light form factor for portability. That's the price difference.

So much hate in this thread. People think they can say anything to anyone as long as it's behind the shroud of internet anonymity.

In an effort to provide a constructive post, here is my experience with this laptop. Hopefully it helps someone make a decision to buy or not buy.

I purchased the i5 Version of this system last year during BF for about the same price as this i7. It's an amazing machine with all the power anyone would need who isn't doing something specialized like graphics work or hardcore gaming. It's not designed for that, anyway, which is why integrated graphics are fine for this system. It's also likely too skinny to add a graphics card, aside from also needing more battery. It's designed to be a portable system with great battery life.

I picked non-touch for two reasons: better battery life and non-glare screen. E.g. on a plane, a glossy screen is horrible because of the angle of the lights. Personally, I also do not like touching my laptop screens. I know that's weird, bit that's just me.

As far as RAM goes, this is more than enough to keep it ticking for years, especially if you're not expecting gaming or the like from it. The HD is big enough for now and upgradeable later on. That's a big plus for me, as running out of drive space is a bigger issue for me when I try to keep laptops for 4-5 years.

The precision touchpad works well. Multi-finger swipes and taps are registered each and every time. It's a big step up from my previous laptop or my current-gen work laptop that doesn't have that kind of touchpad.

As for the price, yes, you are paying for the design and material as well. You can get similar specs in different packages for less money. However, I encourage you to read reviews. There was a review between this system and the Dell Inspiron 13 7000 2n1 that I read before deciding. Despite nearly identical specs, the XPS pulled.out ahead in many areas.

In the end, everyone has their own needs, and this system won't be for everyone. Hopefully I helped at least one person.

DISCLOSURE: I work for Dell, but I've been a Dell customer for many more years than I've worked there. These are my personal views.

No, this is the non-touchscreen version (which some people prefer). Good deal!

No issues here. Got it about 2 weeks ago. Fast and slim
