Yep, non-inverter and heavier. These are inverter and more portable.

I'm not an expert, but I have been on the look out for a 2k inverter generator for a little while.
The specs that bother me on this one are the short run time, and the relative high noise level.

Sportsman 1700 / 2000 Watt Inverter Generator

2000 peak surge watts / 1700 rated running watts

Run time: 4.5 hours at 50% load

Two 120V AC outlets

One 12 Volt DC outlet

Low oil shutdown, oil capacity: 25 oz., SAE 10W30

1-gallon fuel tank

2.75 HP, 4,500 RPM, 99cc, 4 stroke

Recoil start

Noise level: 60db with no load

EPA approved, Non-CARB compliant

Not for sale in California

Anyone know if Sams return policy would be as good as Costco for something like a genny?

NO!!! I was debating which one to get lol

I already have a Duromax 4000S. Is this 2000W much more portable?

60 DB is not really loud, but your post says at "no load". The question is how high it goes up to when loaded fully.

I think the gold standard in this market is the Honda 2000 and it is about 60 at full load.

Also, keep in mind that DB is a log scale so 3 DB equals a doubling of sound. Also keep in mind that there are virtually no standards on sound measurement, so its all a bit of a crap shoot.

Run time seems about right to me... the tank is pretty small (1 gal).

The more important question in my mind would be the reliability of this brand. The reason a Honda is 8x the price is that they always start when you need them.

I am not saying this is a bad brand...just that you should check!

Good luck!

I have the 1000 watt and I can't imagine where they come up with that number. I couldn't get it run anything for than 500 watts before it would shut off. Other than that it's a good little inverter genny

Tested mine with a 900W Sous Vide (basically small water heater), and it chugged right along... Did you break yours in? Or perhaps you're trying to start a 500W motor? In-rush current kills these things.
