People look: The game with Tracfone is you need days, mins (+SMS,+Data) and you need a phone that works for you. Because wifi is often a no extra charge factor then you MAY not need as many mins as you think. Also, there's free to very low replacement cost on any potentially broken (same or similar) phones without any "insurance" fees. So if you get a no bill 365 days bundle then why would you ever buy anything other than a bundle? Just buy bundles. Mins or data alone with out data is not a deal. Phones alone are not a deal. Bundles less than a year are not a better deal. You can buy two bundles for one person as needed and already have a spare phone in hand. Also you have to change your mindset about burning minutes with Tracfone. It's not a emergency only service. Everything rolls constantly and you keep leftover every year. If you eat up all at once for some strange reason then 1yr bundles are still better. I prefer CDMA if that coverage is good for you. They are less hassle activating than GSM. (CDMA have a SIM for 4g data nowadays but that's different and no slow down).

Now as for the phones: To each their own but i just went 8G storage when I was hoping for 16G. It doesn't matter. I just use the space efficiently and move main media to my MicroSD card from my last phone. Boom there it is. Unless you load every app in the store (at once) it's fine. YMMV. I went with Rebel 2 and after HSN app got it for $39&tax shipped. How are you going to beat that? When it's 1200m, 1yr and good new model phone. I've played with the top level overprice (pride) phones and was not impressed. I don't care if it's not the best camera, it works in a pinch and I have real cameras anyway. Feel fee to do otherwise for extremely more cost.

Historically so far the lowest bundles roll around mid year and year end. AKA now.

Find the model phone bundle you're considering and go into just about any store and play with that phone. In your hand. Then order smart with any kind of discount you can. Last year it was VisaCheckout. Now a HSN card approval get you -$20. Other's may pop up but HSN usually allows no stacking. That means if there's a "good" phone for you with 1 yr at about $59.95 -$20 coupon then nothing (paid phone deals) has ever been better than that.

If you can't be happy with a LG Rebel_2 then look at the Feista with LONG battery life, bigger screen and 16GB storage; but it's bundle will cost twice as much. So you could get Two Rebel_2's instead.

2 things:

NEWHSN code 10$ off 20$ for new customers (expires 11/30) at HSN might make this deal sweeter

also tracfones unlock after 12 months of service (https://www.tfwunlockpolicy.com/wps/portal/home) so after 10 months it may be possible to request unlock and own the handset for resale value

Resale would be minimal, so don't count on getting much, most Tracfones are inexpensive entry level phones & software does not update.

Would this be an upgrade over the Samsung Galaxy Sky? Seems like better battery life and slightly better processor. Odd that it is cheaper than the Sky.

good deal, keep in mind no more triple minutes on new tracfones if you are used to using the old style non-smartphone refill cards

Its $80 with a year of service, you won't find anything with those specs for double that without any service

Well, for elderly people it would be sufficient... which seems to be a big part of their clientele. You could also use Google Voice for more texts, but it would use data (or at least your wifi). If you just used this for GPS, simple texts here and there, etc then I think you should be fine

I got the Rebel 2 phone with 1500 voice/text/data and a year of service for $49 on black friday ($59 - $10 off new customer code)

Still available for $59 but now with only 1200 voice/text/data. Good deal If you are looking for verizon service area and a minimal amount per month.
