This website gives a good comparison of the 8100MC vs 9100MC. Scroll down to the chart on the bottom.

THANKS! I was eyeing the top end model: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FLR0...=emc_b_5_t last week and couldn't justify it. Now its a no-brainer! It can get down to 100 deg and has 20 deg increments. SCORE!!!Applause

Yeah I hate that one you mentioned. Very temperamental and doesn't keep a consistent temp for me. Shuts off when it wants to as well. We used those in our kitchen but greatly missed our old ones quickly. We had 4 in our kitchen and they all had a different temp for keeping the water bath at a certain degree

Doh. Which one do you recommend? The 100deg sounds really nice....I want to use this when I cook w/ my kids on their little table...melting chocolate for example

Honestly going with the one the OP put in. Touchscreen sounds cool but the tactile feedback and the response when it's dirty is better. Kind of like...if you have chocolate on your fingers or on the control panel, you can still easily push a button. Touchscreens will be finicky.
