Throw in a $10 R-SIM and it's a hell of a deal.

Excuse the ignorance, but does this need to be activated on Boost Mobile? I'd like to use this as an iPod Touch without ever activating it.

It's a trap. 12 months service needed to Unlock.

Pretty sure this has been $150 the last few weeks I've been researching phone service.

It's locked to Boost for a year of service before unlock.

I'm using a Boost Mobile 128 GB SE on 10.3 with an R-SIM on T-Mobile right now.

You can't update your iOS version while using an R-SIM though, but that's fine with me since I'm waiting for a jailbreak.

Most likely no. Verizon has their iPhone SE 32GB for $199, the prepaid version. It will work on a post paid account on Verizon. Probably one of the few cheaper options out there for your friend.

Got mine for eBay, sorted by lowest price. Took a week to arrive. Pay attention to the model number though, and make sure it corresponds to the phone's iOS version.
