It's kind of big. I wouldn't mind if it used AA or AAA batteries. But it also uses expensive cr123 so not worth it.

Says exclusively for prime members though. Also good for security, not great for automations. There is a 4 minute delay between motion detection, and once motion is detected, it will stay in motion for the 4 minutes

The advantage of Cr123 is it can last for many years before needing replacement based on power consumption. Unlike aa or Aaa which has higher self discharge rate and can leak. Most security system sensors uses cr123 that lasts like 8-10 years.

It depends on how long you have to replace those expensive cr123 though.

I just checked the website. It says two cr123 last for up to 2 years. I guess that makes it a good deal.
Also could be powered using micro usb.

How is a 4 minute delay good for security?

In any case, I need it for automation, are you sure about the delay?

I used to have a couple of these. They are garbage. It had way to many false positives for detecting motion.

Read the reviews: my take is that its too inconsistent for my uses as either lighting control (closets, hallways) or security. It also sounds (from the reviews) like the battery life is an issue. But, if you are gonna USB power it instead of battery, the price is good so if thats your bag then perhaps its worth a swing. Anyway, thats what I gathered from reading the 20 reviews. Good luck.

alternatively I think it can use a power adapter. the description says "For high-traffic areas (entry-ways, common rooms, hallways) use a micro USB cable and power adapter (sold separately)."

According to one review, the delay time is adjustable.

According to the reviews, battery life is very dependent upon where the unit is located. Busy kitchen: it could be weeks. Rarely visited attic: could last quite awhile.
