If only I had a membership here instead of SC. Although the local tax would nuke it being a deal with it $349.99 through Rakuten.

VA panel and too lazy to search for a coupon. Check out the monoprice monitor for comparison if you're in this price point.

if i use a 4k monitor with a laptop that can't handle 4k, can I bump down the resolution of the monitor to something it can handle and still work?

Your laptop would still output 1080p (if it's a modern laptop), then your TV would upscale to 4k most likely.
