Wow, rebate cards now expire 4 months after issuance, talk about time constraints.

You could always buy an Amazon gift card for yourself with the rebate card for the exact dollar amount. That way you'll eventually use it up with some purchase on Amazon

If you need more than 4 months...

I'm guessing you're heavily into cashback and mileage points from all the good credit cards you have so there isn't much opportunity to use the prepaid cards. I would suggest to try to make sure each rebate you do is worth at least $10 so that if you aren't able to spend it within 4 months, you turn it around and buy Newegg gift cards. Then you can continuously recycle the same money for the next rebate.

Once every so often, I use my accumulated rebate cards to buy a single generic Visa, Mastercard or Amex gift card without hard expiration date at a local grocery store.

This. Just convert to Amazon credits and never have to worry about using a card fully, losing it, having them take money after X months, etc. The rebate companies are counting on a percentage of the people not redeeming their cards fully either because they forget about them or lose the cards.

Sure, but I get a better deal buying groceries with one of those cashback credit cards that pay a high percentage on purchases at supermarkets. Besides, consolidating many short-lived small-denomination rebate cards into a single generic gift card gives me more flexibility and less hassle going forward.
