I have this. Pretty good. Easy to open up when jammed. I miss the days of 5 dollar shredders from staples.

Amazon basics shredders are junk. They can barely shred a single piece of mail. You're better off buying a legitimate shredder, otherwise you're going to be opening every piece of mail so you can unfold all the pages to feed through this shredder. It's super time consuming, and makes shredding mail a huge task. Also the bin sucks. The fellows shredder I replaced my Amazon basics with has a slide out bin, whereas you have to take the shredder top off of this one, which sprinkles shredded paper on the ground without fail. Not only that, but the mechanism that senses paper failed in my Amazon shredder, so now when I turn it on the motor never stops. Just have to keep feeding it.

I would stay far far far away from this $35 craptastic migraine. It's worth it to buy a real shredder. Saves so much time, pain, suffering.

edit: keep in mind, this shredder maxes out at 1 piece of paper folded into 3rds, so it's 3 sheets thick, in an envelope which has 2 sides. 1 piece of mail with a single folded sheet of paper is basically what you can shred with this. credit card companies love to use thick cut paper or cardstock so you have to open the mail knowing that you're shredder won't be able to handle the load.

Just FYI, the 8-sheet one is cheaper.

**Nevermind, strip cut vs micro-cut**

I thought maybe i missed out on 5 bucks, but this amazon does sound pretty crappy. I bought the staples one you linked and am very pleased, it's fast and far quieter than the one I used to have, also from staples...

tried to shred my credit card not realizing some banks now make them out of indestructible adamantium steel. i feel like they owe me a shredder, but all they sent when I complained was an envelope to destroy the card I already stuck in my old shredder Stick Out Tongue

anyway long story short, not to crap all over this thread, but the new one from staples is great, if you can get it, I think you might be happier than this amazon one

I had this same micro shredder and it broke just after a year. I had square protection on it so I was reimbursed.

It shreds into really small pieces but it a rather slow and delicate shredder - just a few sheets at a time. We replaced it with a regular amazon shredder. Shreds are a bit bigger but it's more robust and gets the job done for junk mail shredding.

Edit: may be not just realized this is the "micro cut" model

If your a heavy shredder I would agree go with something for a little more powerful. Thoes who don't mind taking a extra second to unfold papers I usually throw in 2 at a time with no problems for about a year now replaced the bin probably 15 times and it still going strong. I do agree when you have to take the head off for the bin disposal, you will get a flake here and there but not to bad. I'd say for a average person I would buy it again. Only things I shred is personal information. Spam mail goes stright to the recycle.
