WARNING: TANGA IS SENDING OUT USED/OPEN BOX UNITS. THESE ARE NOT NEW.

Flashing TM-AC1900 to RT-AC68U
Use the guide provided by Bay Area Tech Pros to the convert the T-Mobile OEM-branded, TM-AC1900, to the stock ASUS retail brand, RT-AC68U:
http://www.bayareatechpros.com/ac1900-to-ac68u/

** If doesn't enter rescue mode (ASUS light in the back should be flashing in rescue mode), try holding WI-FI, VPS, and Reset Button when powering up. Keep holding RESET button until flashing complete. ***

Replacing the Verizon FIOS Quantum Gateway G1100 with the ASUS router
For Verizon FIOS customers, you can replace the flaky FIOS Quantum router, G1100, with the ASUS router by bridging the G1100 so that the ASUS router becomes Primary. Follow this guide:
https://www.dslreports.com/forum/...es-Primary

Flashing instructions if anyone is having problems.downgrading your original TMo firmware:
FYI, the following combination of instructions has worked for me and at least a couple of others in this thread. If you've having problems, try the following:
Follow steps 1-4 here:
http://www.bayareatechpros.com/ac1900-to-ac68u/

Then follow steps 1 & 2 here to ensure you can upload the older TMo firmware (which allows you to enable SSH):
https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=106325252&postcount=245

Of note, my browser didn't show any progress while uploading the firmware...I just waited a minute or so, after which I got the confirmation message. Some have mentioned that using a different browser helped.

...then go back to the first link and follow steps 8 & beyond.

Just wanted to clarify these are brand new routers.
We have sold both open box and certified refurbs of this unit as well in the past. So, just to clarify, this listing are brand new, in sealed box, original packaging.

Hope this helps clear that up.

The question is not if this is a great router. It is. The question is where do they get all these so called new routers this long after asus quit making them? If they are in fact refurbs then $59 is not a good price. A new router should have more than a 30 day warranty.

this is the same price on amazon. not really a deal unless it truly is brand new. only 30 day warranty.

Last time this was posted, folks with technical issues could not have them resolved by TMo or Asus, one would send them to the other.

I bought the costco netgear nighthawk x6s in a recent BF deal (https://slickdeals.net/f/10723172-netgear-nighthawk-x6s-ac3000-mu-mimo-smart-wi-fi-router-149-99-costco-black-friday?src=SiteSearchV2_SearchBarV2Algo1) .. is that one far superior/future proof than this one that I should keep it or should I go with this Asus instead?

I'm looking to cover a 2 story ~3200sqft house .. we currently max around 8 devices on wifi at a time and stream everything since we don't have cable. Mostly interested in coverage and range. We also have cell service w. TMobile so seems like another plus for this one. Not too knowledgeable on router technology so appreciate any advice.

same router was posted for same price on same website, but "open box" and with a magazine subscription
Yes, thank you for pointing that out.

That was a different listing, different product.

Since that time, we were able to acquire brand new units. That's what this listing is for Smilie

Perhaps the exact situation like ours. I have a T-Mobile router currently and I have some dead spots on the far reaches of my home. It could be more to do with the router placement. My big problem is that the 5g Hz signal keeps dropping several times every day. It drops for a few seconds. I need to turn off and turn on my Wi-Fi on phone for it to reconnect. Speeds are good but I haven't had more than 200 Mbps on WiFi on a 1 GB PS connection.

I bought the Netgear router from Costco too. My line of thinking is that I will try it and see if it is any better on speeds and stability than my current one. If not then I can return to Costco.

This T-Mobile has been available several times in the past for this and even lower price. So no rush for you to buy this as you can get it if the other doesn't suit your needs

That's wayyy too much sq footage for any single router no matter how good it is. You would benefit most by using a mesh network system.

I read an article stating that Asus stopped making this router awhile ago. Thus all the refurbs etc deals. Are you saying they have restarted making this router. AC68U?
