Okay thanks might be mistaken, I think we usually go with the 8.5" for our regular meals.

That's on the small side if you're trying to serve a meal to people. Imagine putting a meat serving and say 2 side items and a dinner roll or biscuit on an 8.5in plate. I think typical dinner plate is from 10-12in in diameter.

This would have been a score if it was the 8 1/2" size. I just paid @ $5 for a 100 at Walmart. And yeah, unless your talking Xmas dinner, 8.5 works fine.

decent price, but the size is a deal-breaker for me.. When I get dessert, I need a bigger plate, at least 8.5"..

I think you are right, I was wrong, it was the 8.5, however the majority of our family is small children which these are fine for too.
