Is this a good deal? Trying to decide on buying these, or holding off and hoping that the 2nd generation Nest smoke detectors go on sale soon...

I have 8 of these and they've been near perfect. As smoke detectors go, I like that they're kind of sleek looking and they hug the wall. The setup is simple and I really like that they are interconnected so that if one of them goes off, they all go off. Also, they will use actual words like "Alert! Fire". The range is good too, much better than wifi. Battery life is about 18 months with Duracells. (I really should have replaced the batteries annually.) They are supposed to have a voice to say "Low Battery" or something, but one of mine just started having some random chirping. I have not yet tried the Wink integration. For the price, theses are tough to beat. Home Depot normally sells them for around $50 each.

FYI, the only drawback is that these are ionization only. Apparently, we should have both type of detection: ionization and photoelectric for best protection:

For me, the interconnected feature outweighed the need for both types of detection.

What is the model number for this? I just need one of these (instead of the 2-pack). Thanks!
