Note that you need a Uniday account and must go to Samsung's site from Uniday's. Uniday requires a .edu account to make. Google for more information :]

Also 8% cash back with a certain app

As I mentioned in another deal thread, this looks like the V1 version of the drive since it is listed as 32-layer v-nand. Also there is no picture of the box with which to draw a different conclusion. (Yellow font V1, Blue/Black font V2).

Both versions perform great and there is hardly a difference.

We're Sorry! This promotion is already redeemed or is invalid.

Please let me know if there is something more than entering "UNIDAY" as a discount code.

It isn't a code, its a website right? You have to login and click through from UNIDAY?

Nevermind,
I see that you need to go through the Unidays student website. Available to university students only. Might want to update the post OP.

Is it worth the difference in price?

Does that mean the NewEgg listing is for V1 as well? Both links have the same model #, and both mention 32 layers of NAND..

I purchased using Uniday and e.b.a.t...for an additional 8% cb. I received $20.10 instantly. (Discover has 10% cb). I can take a picture of the box if anyone is interested.

Good question. I am basing my statement off this review, which states that the newer version of the drive uses 48-layer. The very last part of the 'conclusion' page addresses this directly also.

http://www.thessdreview.com/our-r...omparison/

On that NE page, the images show the retail box which is of the style that suggests the newer V2 version of the drive (blue V, rest of the font in black). So I believe it is justifiable to expect that version. No idea what NE's stance is on this however.

If I had to guess, I would say that NE updated the box images but not the technical specs on this item when the V2 version came out? This is just a guess though.

I do not think companies should release different hardware with 100% identical names, perhaps the fact that performance is -nearly- identical is what made them feel justified in doing this.

It's crazy that these haven't really changed price much since I bought my 850 EVO about 2 or 3 years ago
