No, it's not. A quad core 8th gen i7 processor (here) is better than a dual core 7th gen i7 (what you had listed).

Just check out the difference in the benchmarks. Definitely worth the extra $50.

And, in what way is the extra power going to help. In Microsoft Word? Surfing the internet? Playing a DVD? paying for extra power that 99% don't use is wastage
