This was selling for $646.95 for the past months from Amazon!

This is a great deal, considering a new D5600 with a standard 18-55m lens costs around $750.

You can buy this for $489 and a new 18-55mm lens for around $99
and you've saved yourself over $200!

"Despite only being a very modest upgrade to the D5500, the D5600 is still a very capable advanced entry-level DSLR. This is a camera which is very much a sum of its parts rather than having one single standout feature. There's a high-resolution 24.2MP sensor which produces very detailed images, an articulating touchscreen, a decent 39-point AF system and polished handling are some of the highlights that make the D5600 one of the most well-rounded entry-level DSLRs available."

So so deal. The 5600 is 99% the same as d5500, or worse in some respects. But, a few months ago Nikon and all authorized retailers had the d5500 with both the 18-55 and 70-300 lenses for only $599. Adorama even through in some free goodies like SD card, case, filters, etc.

What would I be getting upgrading from the 5500 to the 5600? Very little I'm assuming.

As a D3300 owner, upgrading to a D5500/5600 isn't that much worth it other than it has more AF points and it's touchcreen (which does come in handy for those weird pose shots). If I didn't have the D3300 (still a noob) I would have much preferred the D5500/D5600 instead.

true.. if u need the body, lenses, and any other extras, adorama's deal is probably better. however, if u already have lenses and accessories, and just want to upgrade from an older d3k or d5k series, this saves a bit a of cash and the hassle of reselling the extras u dont need.

How is live view focusing on this line of Nikon DSLR's? That would be my main use for the touch screen (for focusing) and the tilty screen... I use live view a lot on my Pentax gear for landscapes or if I'm shooting from the hip for candids.

In addition to few if any upgrades over the D5500, I think the D5600 also lost the IR receiver in favor of an app. Not nearly as convenient as the little fob that Nikon has been using for years. Really don't want to hold my s7 edge when taking family photos via remote. I'd prefer the D5500 for that reason alone.

Looks like this one's dead for me. Was trying to find the right lens to buy and missed out on it. Arg.
