Optima UHD65 4k no tax/shipping $2351

  1. Retail price $2,500.
  2. Joesav.com price: $2,400.
  3. With "JOES1" coupon: $2,351 ($147 discount total)
  4. No Tax/Shipping either (that I know of)
Key features:
  • 4k (obviously)
  • HDR10 REC.2020 wide color gamut and DCI-P3 color gamut coverage
  • Pure Motion
  • RGBRGB
  • 2200 lumens
  • HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2
  • Comes with remote control
This is the best deal I've seen on this projector (+no shipping/tax that I see), but I'm sure a lot of people are like me, and waiting for the price to get as low as $1,500 - $2,000 Smilie But I wanted to post it, because it is the best price I've seen so far.

Now this (UHD65) is similar to the UHD60 ($2,000), but has slightly better color and Pure Motion (aka the smooth soap opera effect people love or hate). Yet the UHD60 ($2,000) is brighter, but you also sacrifice color.

One other thing I'll mention, whenever a post is created about UHD60/UHD65 projectors, the thread blows up with people arguing about everything, the biggest topic being "is it true 4k or not".

To save you the trouble... it's not native 4k (it's 2716x1528) but uses micro-mirrors and pixel-shifting technology to achieve the results on the screen. The UHD65 does meet the criteria to display 8.3 million pixels (according to CTA & TI, TI being the manufacturer behind the imaging chip), but still it's not true 4k. According to a lot of websites out there that have reviewed the UHD65 side by side with a true 4k projector, there wasn't any significant difference in detail side by siide. If you'd like to read an article in detail, here's a good one (but if you Google you'll find a bunch more):

Anyway, let's all be nice to each other, discuss!

Isn't joesav one of those bait and switch shady sellers? (I'll delete this post if I'm wrong.)

Great question, no idea I've never shopped there (I saw the deal via Google Shopping). I did a Google search on reviews for them, and between a good 5-10 review sites, Joesav.com had great reviews (4.6 out of 8,000~ reviews).

Edit: Searched further on Reddit, looks like they do have some bad reviews on BBB and what not. Personally, I can deal with bad service, that's almost common these days with companies. But if the product doesn't get here, that I can't deal with. Wonder how much of the bad stuff is from bad support/service, or not getting a product.

I ordered a ks8000 from them last September. What a nightmare, I waited 5 weeks for a tracking number and finally called them.
The support number was very unprofessional, they promised me a tracking number on 3 separate occasions over the next month. They kept blaming it on their shipping department.

They finally told me I could upgrade my shipping method to get it out quicker for an extra $150, I told them no.
They then told me the issue was a "free wall mount" I was supposed to get with it, that the tv was free shipping but the mount would not be.
I was then told I would have to purchase the shipping and that the tv would also be packaged much safer for shipping that way.

At that point I told them to remove the free mount, but they said they would have to cancel the entire order, which I did not want to do because I paid $200 less than their current price at the time.

In the end I told them I wanted to cancel the entire order. They told me I'd see a refund within 5 days but 2 weeks later it still wasn't cancelled, I contacted PayPal and finally got a refund.

In the end I wasted 3 months on them and got nowhere.

Read their online reviews, they have alot of similar reviews

oh, and there was also a "extened 5 year warranty for .01" option at the time, that was one of the first things they dropped from the order the first time I called for tracking. the excuse was "it already comes with a 1-2 year manufacturer warranty, and this external warranty would require me to ship it, so that wouldn't be worth putting on the tv", even though I told them I still wanted it for the advertised penny

Brand name is Optoma, not Optima.

Great projector for the price. I've been enjoying it for the last month. To get native 4k you'll have to spend at least double the price. Also, I would not be buying a projector or dropping this much money on a less than reputable dealer. You'll want someone to take care of you if things go wrong.
