I'm still waiting on a real life version of wizards chess. That'd be bad A.

Better to imagine without illustrations. That is what books are for! Am guessing films will be available soon. (; Then judge the description against imagination.

If for Hogwarts proper, the surrounding grounds then great. JK does an excellent job of
descriptions of characters and physical characteristics. That said anyone who is a friend of Harry Potter is a friend of mine. Props OP!
Most character descripitions are limited to glasses hair color cloak and boots. Very limited. Are you sure you're not thinking of the movies?

Has anyone actually read one of these? They appear to be such an awkward size to actually read, especially for a child.

My 7 year old has these books. Yes it's awkward; she can't read them in the car or in bed. But she still absolutely loves them. She and her friends sit on the floor in the play room and leaf through them, they ooooh and aaaah over the illustrations. I always hear things like, so that's what so and so looks like!! (They read the books before watching the movies)

They are big, and heavy. I can't imagine what the next books will look like...that being said, these are awesome to read to younger kids that need the pictures. It's just more a cuddle in a chair than lay down and read in bed book.
