Bought this for $10 on clearance at local home depot a bout a year ago. Works with Google home too, I can say change to blue or soft white.

A Lightify hub specifically isn't required, as a SmartThings hub will work, but a hub that can detect these bulbs is absolutely necessary. I imagine most hubs can (Wink, Echo +, etc, but make sure to check compatibility for whatever hub one owns before making the purchase!), though not likely the Philips Hue hub, as these are competing products.

It's a good price for a good bulb, but it may not be the best choice if you want to use with Philips hue system which I was looking to do. Source: http://iconnecthue.com/supported-devices/#osram

But doesn't the Amazon echo plus eliminate the need for the Philips hub?

Yes, alexa will take any compatible device and will allow any and all configurations over the network. I have hue and a few others. Get what's cheap when you can. If you have alexa, you can control via app or voice. I haven't run into any problems yet. I do have a SmartThings hub and a hue hub with alexa.

Ooh, my b. Though I did have to clip the coupon in order for my total to change. It was easily accessible though.

I have a Hue and I bought a Sengled Element bulb last week and am reading up on how to get Alexa to recognize it. Apparently I also need a Sengled hub for Alexa to recognize the bulb, right?

note the difference between echo plus + "hue hub" combo. It only can turn off/on the bulb and adjust brightness through voice. If you have hue color bulb, you will not be able to change the colors with voice command. You can't change the color through the Hue App either since the echo plus "hue hub" is not a "true" hue bridge (the app can only connect to a real hue bridge)

https://www.cnet.com/products/ama...us/review/

Echo plus + hue hub works for people who have only hue white. But if you have color, it may not work the way you want without the proper bridge

Hate two things about this:

1) Hub required
2) Google home not supported.

Looking for the TP-Link Tunable white bulb to go on sale badly.

It works? like full functionality? The amazon page doesn't mention Google home anywhere.
