Why are these so expensive compared to other IP cams?

Compared to their Arlo wireless offerings, it is a bit baffling. Wait until you see the prices for he PoE ones 😂

check out the arlo forum if you want to do Arlo Q CRV at $10/mo, easy work around, but the work around of installing a power interrupting timer to each camera for 6+ reboots a day is a must

Hi Bobnsofi,

Why the power cycling / interrupting timer?

( for those wondering CVR = Continuous Video Recording )

The Arlo system records about 30 seconds for free (upon detection), and saves it for a week for free. For $10/month, you get CVR, 24/7, super high quality (saves for a month, no downloading, but you can use a video screen capture program). The problem is that the CVR will stop audio and diminish video quality over time, a very short time, so the work around is this => We ended buying a timer on Ebay for $11.88, and setting it to cut power to the camera for 1 minute, abour 6 times a days. This seems to work fine, and the camera appears live when we check it, and cvs works also. Yes we spent $12 to fix the problem, OH WELL. Here is the timer we bought on ebay => Century 7 Day Heavy Duty Digital Electric Programmable Timer Dual Outlet Switch , you can search it by copying and pasting. Pick the USA seller, get it to your home in a few days, not to hard to program

The CVR can be purchased for $100/year, per Arlo Q camera, and it is a great deal, a video screen capture program from download dot com is a great way to download the video. The problem is you MUST CUT POWER TO THE CAMERA 6 TIMES A DAY if you want to enjoy CRV. Their tech support is a joke, a waste of time. The work around works fine, we have used this method for 6 months, WORKS GREAT, LOVE IT, just don't fight it, and enjoy CVR for $10/month

Arlo Pro 2 is already out - that replaces the Arlo Pro. This is the Arlo Q. As far as I've heard the Arlo Q 2 has not been announced. Am I wrong?

Hi Sutcliffe1

I have not seen any press release on it.

Believe that since it is 1080p it's not under as much competitive pressure compared to the wirefree Arlo / Arlo Pros which are 720p

I thought Pro was already the successor of the Q, and they are just going under one flagship of Pro 2

The pro is the outdoor cam. The Q is the indoor cam. Two completely different cams. Maybe you're thinking of the Q Plus?
