Has anyone actually used this? It only has 1 review. Was planning to use it underneath kitchen cabinets.

I've ordered one of these in the past. Not sure if exact brand but probably the same manufacturer/rebranded. It's works well and it's nice to have some ambient light when watching tv. The remotes for these also work through the tv so no need to orient an it receiver etc.

connects through USB so if you only have one on your tv and it's being used by something this might not be the best.

You can buy those USB switches separately for more flexibility in choice of light strips...

Interesting...I had the $100 amazon gift card that comes with a free Gund teddy bear in my cart along with this item. Amazon changed the quantity to 0 on the bear since it's 1 per customer so I deleted it..but it then let me check out with just this item..no need for $25 purchase.

Is this worth getting? I'd rather get the color changing ones for a variation.

Also, one review so far and we all know what that usually means Smilie

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure lights behind your TV will decrease apparent contrast. Putting lights behind your display is like looking into a sun, or aiming a camera into the sun. When doing that, you get flare, which is a decrease in contrast. I imagine this is why movie theatres are dark.

If anything, I'd get these for asthetics, not for optimizing TV viewing.

It seems counter-intuitive, but the opposite is true. It's called bias lighting [howtogeek.com], and it increases the amount of contrast. I've got it on my set, and it makes watching TV or gaming in the dark much nicer, with significantly less eyestrain.

The one bit of disagreement I might have is the color. The ideal bulb color for bias lighting is 6500K, which is a really blue-ish white. However, lights with a lot of blue in them can interfere with our circadian rhythms and make it hard to feel tired or go to sleep, so coupling that with a television screen could make insomnia worse.
