Just a word of warning on these shoes. They are REALLY hot! They're comfortable, but I found them unbearable in warm weather as I was sweating like I was in a sauna. I have both the waterproof and non-waterproof version (bought the latter to see if there was improvement), and they're both very warm shoes. The non-waterproof is cooler though.

I usually require a 3/4E. How wide are their W's?

How's their return process for bad fits?

Too bad it's a specific shoe. I love Keen's but don't need another hiking shoe/boot. They usually have a really nice big toe box giving plenty of wiggle room for the toes considering the feet usually swell a bit after a good day of hiking. Also nice for those decents as your toes are less likely to get squished.

Agree with the commented about the waterproof. I got a pair of Columbia waterproof hiking shoes last year and I am not a fan. Not breathable, feet get hot, sweat, and the moisture just stays. Plus the water proof-ness wore out after a while (really disappointed in them, I had a pair of Columbia boots 15~ years ago that lasted me 4-5 years) so my feet would get wet from walking through small puddles and wet grass.

I have had my eye on a pair of merrells on Amazon, non waterproof. They stay around $50-60.

Also agree on the lack of sizes. I checked a couple of other styles and the only available sizes were oddball.

Great! I just needed a pair of hiking shoes, and my last Merrell pair lasted 15 years or so.

+1 on breathability of waterproofing. I used to be a big Merrell fan(their Moabs were all I ever bought) but a few years ago they switched from using Goretex to their own material and it seems that's when it went downhill. I stocked-up on some of the older ones back then and haven't taken another look since so am unsure if still the case with newer models. Comfortable line of shoes, otherwise.

They still do have some versions with gore-tex but of course at a premium price.

If you truly want the performance, go with Gore-Tex there's not quite any competitors yet at least in terms of materials for shoes.

I had the Merrell waterproof series when I started, and they became soaking wet after some miles on the snow. With Gore-Tex shoes, I can literally cross creek with shoes immersed but still come out dry.
