Good price but the design is getting old. The newer Tag Aquaracer blue dial looks a lot nicer in person with big steel polished markers.

The seamaster is mainly for bragging rights nowadays. My cousin has the older model (non ceremic bezel) and just got his serviced after 4 years and paid $475 !!!) So factor the maintenance cost as well (for any luxury watch).

On the same note, I got my Tag Carrera back from Tag last month and paid $415 for the whole movement/waterproof test haul. Just bummed out they didn't bother re-polishing the case/bezel for that amount.
Rolex will charge you $1100 for a Submariner service EEK!

Literally at every nice watch thread the trolls come out. Why can't you understand that not everyone values the same things as you do? Obviously there exists a group of people who appreciate the beauty and mechanical masterpieces these timepieces are. Not everythings value is based on the purely practical factors. /rant

Pay to have a metal shackle on my wrist, when I can get the time with my smartphone. Does not compute in 2017.

Literally the only reason to own something like this is an ego booster.
Expert in Swiss timepieces, aren't we?

That makes total sense... pulling out my smart phone looks really professional when I'm at work. Plus it's really practical when I'm checking a patient's heart rate and my gloves are possibly covered in their blood. Also I'm sure my smartphone will be really helpful in the 15th hour of an unexpected double shift (long after the battery has died). Get a real job and then you might understand.
Beyond that, you will probably have to replace your smart phone every few years due to planned obsolescence- this will last you a lifetime.

Nice watches are the equivalent of functional jewelry for men. Women could wear a sour candy bracelet to work...because its still serves the purpose of a bracelet right? But most would choose to wear a diamond tennis bracelet instead. Who would have thought? Watches are the same. If you don't want to understand that premise, just leave the thread.
