What is the difference between these models: EA9400 & EA9500:

There are multiple versions of the EA9400 and the EA9500 but to dumb it way down the difference is that the EA9500 has NitroQAM enabled for 2.4GHz 802.11n which is how they claim 1000Mbps vs the 600Mbps of the EA9400. In reality this won't make a bit of difference for most people since very few wireless clients also support NitroQAM and the conditions must be absolutely perfect for this feature to even work. The same can be said of NitroQAM on 5GHz 802.11ac. The AC5000/AC5400 number is very misleading.

Version 2 of the EA9400/EA9500 upgrades the CPU to a 1.8GHz quad-core from a 1.4GHz dual-core and refreshes the radios with the BCM4366E instead of BCM4366 which supposedly is an attempt to improve MU-MIMO performance[smallnetbuilder.com]. One differentiator between V1 hardware and V2 is whether there is a USB 2.0 port. V2 devices have two USB 3.0 ports.
