Most of the reviews seem fake. I'm seeing patterns in the wording, grammar, etc on so many of the reviews. Makes me think the same people are posting fake reviews.

Bought this for my daughter last year from Walmart for $20 (came with a $10 sewing kit as well) and it really is a D quality sewing machine. Pretty worthless if you expect to actually sew much with it. It's not too bad of a machine for a 10 year old to toy around with and try to learn some techniques.

I just bought the Cool Maker Sew n Style for my daughter, since that is a toy, I'm thinking this is potentially better because it can do more and is about 10$ cheaper.

Would this be able to sew patches on a Boy Scout uniform decently? Can't find the foot control to our regular sewing machine so looking for an alternative to hand sewing.

I don't have this sewing machine but I can imagine this machine is no better than a toy sewing machine, from looking at the photo. Patches are thick and there is no way this machine can handle the heavy duty job. (Of course, I can be wrong but doubt that.)

For Scout patches, you can use iron-on sheet to glue them onto uniforms. Boy Scout store sells it for around $8, or you can find similar products at fabric stores and maybe Walmart fabric department. I have hand sewn Boy Scout patches to uniforms and that wasn't fun.

For the people thinking about buying this sewing machine for even their kids, I suggest you to get a basic sewing machine instead. You can buy a very basic sewing machine around $70 - $80. It is more money upfront but your kids will learn better with less frustrations and you will save money in long run by not have to buy 2nd sewing machine after this machine breaks. Invest in a good quality machine first instead of buying this toy machine.

Thanks, I'll have to check out the iron-on sheet material you mentioned. Some of the patches already have a glue on the back but I seem to have an issue getting that to stick to the shirts no matter the heat setting of the iron and/or how long I set the iron on the patch.

The material you mentioned is not an iron-on/sticky thing, I think. I know what you are referring to. It doesn't stick to a fabric because there is no glue on it. It does look like there is some kind of glue for ironing to an uniform, but I think the shiny material has glue on one-side only which is already glued to the back of the patches to prevent fraying, etc.

Having many relatives who sew, they claim that these things are absolute crap, even for a guy like me who wanted it for quick button re-attach. Suffice to say they talked me out of buying one at a similar price point. I have no personal experience with this one, but I'm really skeptical of the ability to create a workable sewing machine for this price. It's kinda like a $20 printer. There's not that much that can be cut without substantially affecting quality.
