Second option seems better as it has a light with a color temperature control.

Anyone know how the CRI is on these? Considering the options and form factor it seems like a great deal. (For the Bi color)

To set color temp correctly you need to know your ambient lighting Wink and set your camera accordingly ! Phones can't do that - so I wouldn't worry! Rock

I guess people shooting something on their phone don't really care, but wouldn't it still be useful to be able to match the color temp to other lighting sources...?

Yes. Mixed temp lighting is almost impossible to deal with, even if you shoot in RAW and post-process.

All lights have different temperatures. They might have a range but every single light is different the only way to truly know the temperature of your light you would need a color meter.
