I see this mentioned a lot in the forums here. Many people seem to take advantage of this feature of discover cards. Sorry to say they are taking this away!

They are dropping some of the best benefits, only keeping price protection. Sayonara to them!

purchase protection is not the same as price protection. price protection is the only thing I care about.

Interesting. Most other cards have the benefits they are dropping.
And they mention low usage, which should mean low cost.

I wonder why they are dropping this?

But will the honor the extended warranty on previous purchases?

Hmm between this and discover playing around with recent price protection claims it might be time to look elsewhere

haha. Black friday price protection is making their benefits dept go bankrupt. so they have to remove other stuff.

I've never used purchase protection on any card though.

However, they are removing extended warranty, and that's HUGE.
I've had stuff conk out just after the first year, and I've made some warranty claims.
Will just have to remember to not buy electronics with the Discover.

Looks like I'll be going back to Mastercard, since their benefits aren't as restrictive.

The extra 30 days of price protection isn't worth losing an extended warranty

Also, Discover 1% cash back sucks anyway.

Discover will be the stand-out sole card without warranty benefits. shitty.
