You don't want diamond plate facing your cargo, it will tear things up unless you take the effort to put a blanket between and secure the blanket, etc. What about underneath that rests on the bed rails?

Only the top really needs the diamond plate for traction, but is the aluminum (or even the thin steel boxes) strong enough to stand on?

Questions to think about.

Dunno if this is the one i got or not but it comes with little foamish strips which stick to the truck and gets sandwiched between truck and this haha... and the bottom is just plain not diamond. Mine seemed decently strong built, again i do not know if its the same model and since i got it on insane clearance afew years ago, i cant really judge from the price (paid like $14 at a sears store brand new in box). Mine is sturdy. Only thing is the key sometimes already seems like it may fail haha which i guess is why they rate it at 250lbs, so when it goes if it goes you can still get your stuff out. At this price if i could find it and needed or wanted one, id jump

Questions for YOU to think about.
1) Why are commenting when you have no idea what you're talking about.
In the description is says "Full-sized box suspends from the side rails of your pick-up..." so it only contacts the bed rails, and it comes with foam strips to protect the rails. Or you could cut your own strips from sheet rubber/gasket material. Problem solved.
2) Is the ability to stand on the box an important feature and deciding factor in purchasing a truck box for you? smh

Shopyourway website [shopyourway.com] is actually showing 20,539 points back for me right now.

Random find: Batavia, IL is showing 1 available in stock.

Actually I do know what I'm talking about from direct experience working with diamond plate truck boxes, and you misunderstood. I said you have to protect your cargo, not the truck bed itself.

Sure it only contacts the bed rails, and they have padding to keep the unnecessary diamond plate from scratching the hell out of the rail.

But if you want to load stuff into your truck bed, you then have to take extra precautions to keep said cargo from rubbing up against the diamond plate and getting scratched up from road vibrations etc. Scraping your knuckles on the stuff isn't any fun either.

Lastly, if you aren't going to be standing on the tool box, why would you need diamond plate (which is designed for traction) in the first place? Which is why I said the only place it really makes sense would be on top of the lid.

Despite my criticisms, $54 is a good price for a truck box. Just giving people something to think about.
