By looking at the price. The great deal tv's 55/65" always low end no HDR10, 60hz, edge lit and usually $400-$800.

And model # (6000's always fake hdr)

LG Is the king of fake marketing lingo word play so unless and OLED or very high model # it wont be 10 bit (real hdr) aka HDR10

Samsung u want an 8000 and up model

Sony you want an 850 and up model #

Hisense an 8 series and up (H8 H9...)

Look for HDR10 / 10 bit panel (not 8)

Good to haves:
— a true/real 120hz refresh rate (not "effective, or motion rate, or mci etc all mean its just 60hz)
— preferably zone based backlight (vs edge lit or other inferior backlight tech)
— also good to have and how to id a higher end tv is it having dolby vision

You're literally the first person I've ever heard say that in regards to that TV. My father got one. I don't think you can get a TV in this price range with a better picture than the TCL

Should I buy this or keep holding out hope for a Samsung 6300 to get a significant discount?

It was $287 at Frys over the BF weekend. The picture quality is much better in person than the TCL S model, and LG is more reliable and will most likely last many years. Disregard the sheep who only listen to opinion on rtings.com. Actual customer reviews are pretty good...

Hmmm. I think I'm gonna hold out a little longer. Need a 43 to 55 4k I'm going to give my son for Christmas but I'm just not too hyped on this

Decent deal. I believe the 43 in. Was 299 at best buy for black Friday. Tempting but the panel/fake 4k would bug me too much

Hows the HDR on this TV? How can I tell which has the "real" HDR VS the Software HDR?

Paid $328 at Walmart on BF and I'm very satisfied. The sound is not as good as my Hisense 40" but I can't live with that. It's still good enough.
